foreskins... (mmm, yummy)

ok, my understanding is that little boys' foreskins are kind of closed over the end of their willies when theyre born as natures way of keeping the delicate bit clean, but that over time, it loosens and they can then pull it back to reveal the 'head'.
i know that at this point, they need to pull it back to clean under it (memories of my mother calling up the stairs to my brothers and i in the bath);
'have you all washed behind your ears?'
'yesss' (the chorused reply)
'have the boys washed behind your foreskins?'
'yesss'
[still makes me laugh after all this time sigh.]

sooo, question is: when is it supposed to loosen up? and if it hasnt done by 3, am i sposed to go to the doc and get them to do something about it??

my son is 5 and his is still like that.other son is 4 and its looser.hv told me ot to pull it back for try to until they're 7.

not sure really.if its not infected/red and sore id leave it alone and just make sure he's bathed regularly.

they all get bathed every night btw. not coz im especially hygienic, but they actually roll about in mud during the day, not to mention countless other messy things.

I knew ds1 had a problem as soon as he came out of nappies. His flow went sideways and hit the bath! he was circ'd at almost 3 yo.

If there is no such problem i think you are supposed to just leave it well alone. If there are any probs you will soon be aware.

btw I too think your name should win the prize of best halloween nickname!

actually, ill admit something:

i dont actually get it. i just swapped a couple of letters to get a halloweeny word in my name, but loads of people have complimented it... and im not quite sure why! is there something im just not getting?

I think the fact that it is an anagram and takes a while to even notice makes it clever (Galore to LaGore). Not like my name, which took 10 seconds to think of!

My Ds1 is 6 now 7 at the start of the year. his has not gone back yet. I did not know there was an age it had to go right back. I will now ask my HV, she what shes says.

Dont suppose that DHs or DPs or any man would know as they would too young to remember when theirs went right back.

Just asked DH - he said to leave well alone till at least 10!!

Must admit, ds (7) has never pulled his back to clean behind it, nor has he tried. No idea how tight it is - not something I try !

I worried about this. I have four boys so thought I'd better look it up (dh was cicumsised as a child so doesn't remember)I found this useful Don't worry, it's nothing graphic just something from netdoctor.

My ds was 5 and only noticed as docitr mentioned it as i said he is a bit smelly so doctor said to wash under it really well,but dh reckons i should leave him alone untill he is older and can do it himself. i had no clue about it either I said it is nt in any childcare books either like a taboo or something
