Ds has another chest infection and is taking more antibiotics

This is his fifth lot of antibiotics in his 16 weeks of life
I am so worried about this, but what can I do? GP thinks more AB's is the way to go atm, then if after seven days still no improvement yet another chest x-ray.
Ds was actually quite well for about four days at the beginning of this week, and that was soooooooooo nice and I was so hopeful that it would last for a bit this time.
But no such luck.

has he already had a chest x-ray? my dd has periods where she goes from one lot of antbiotics to another, she has asthma.is there any family history? hope hes better soon.

He's already had three chest x-rays, two in his first week of life and one in August when he was in hospital with bronchiolitis.
He has asthma of sorts, but there's no family history. He does have a genetic condition which is possibly related to his frequent respiratory problems.

sorry cant help much ,only thing i can think of is maybe a steamy room? try running the hot tap in the bathroom with the door shut, my dd was a bit older when her asthma started. can your hv give you any advice?

HV is very nice but not much help either.
We need to see a lung specialist really. Appointment not till December though.

has the asthma society got a website where you might get some advice i know the ecxema society website is really good,just a thought

Emkana I totally sympathise!

I went through the same with my DS, he was born 9 weeks early and spent the majority of his first year in hospital, he had every chest infection going, they even did a sweat test on him for cystic fibrosis it was awful at only 4 months old. He was eventually diagnosed with asthma when he was 1 yrs old, they refused to diagnose him till then, even though he was on the inhalers and steroids!
