Annoying sore throat won't go away

Nothing else wrong with me
Sharp pain returns each afternoon
Feels like tonsillitis type pain but no fever or anything just a bit tired
White spots on back of tongue
Have been fighting it for over a week now so fed up!! Normally would have evolved into full blown illness or gone away by now
Any tips or should I just go to gp?

The white spots make it sound like tonsillitis to me, so I'd get it checked out by the GP.
I've got a sore throat at the moment too and DH just made me some hot ginger wine with syrup which was very soothing!
