Toddler with broken leg

My 18 month DD broke her leg on Saturday and is now in a full cast. She seems to be coping with it really well and has even been running around and climbing but we can't do a lot of our usual activies which involve wet play outside and swimming. Has anyone got any suggestions on best way to wash her, keep her dry when outside and what other activities might be suitable. We do go to a lot of playgroups but they are mostly in the mornings and I am stuck for things to do in the afternoon, especially when it is raining. We have been given an aquadraw pad for her and I am managing to keep her amused most of the time but we still have 5 or 6 weeks to go. Any suggestions gratefully received. Also, any suggestions on clothes/footwear to keep her warm outside without lots of expense.

Re: clothing -can you either adapt existing (or buy some cheap from Primark etc) trousers/tracksuit bottoms by cutting down the seam of the leg and then adding ties or velcro to secure around the plastered leg.

As for activities, lots of art and craft! Use things like the Argos catalogue and let her tear out pictures and stick them on a piece of paper. Or spaghetti/shaving foam/jelly play -put the substance on a tray and just let her squidge, squeeze and have fun with it (messy but they love it!)

ggirl - we are lucky in that she wakes late, goes to bed early and has 2 to 3 hours nap in the day but still need activities for when she is awake and not eating (which she also does lots of).

bettybatshapedspaghetti - thanks for the ideas.Just remembered a display on the wall at playgroup this morning about playing with a mixture of cornflour and water in a tray - will add that to your ideas.
