ROFL is 'Rolls on the Floor Laughing' scarymaryme. Acronym list in the beige bar at the top of the screen, if there are any others (they're not all obvious, by any means).

oh...thanks...didn't read the top bit! It all makes perfect sense now

Was totally addicted. Probably drank 3 litres a day. Haven't had it since 2004 when PG. I missed it loads during pg and then gradually lost the desire. SOmeone told me once that they used to put Cocaine in it when it was first invented. I often wonder if there is some milder derivative in it today.

Highlander · 11/10/2006 14:37

I don't get the Coke thing either, or any fizzy drink. It's foul.

Mars bars on the other hand...........

madmarchscare · 11/10/2006 14:41

An XPs sister used to drink at least 2 ltrs a day, she had terrible teeth too.

KellyKrueger1978 · 11/10/2006 14:43

now I don't get choc. I have a lovely bar of green and blacks in the fridge and it has been there about three weeks now. I like choc but don't find it addictive. There was a time when I didn't like choc at all.

MamaGhoul · 11/10/2006 14:43

"I read somewhere recently though that it is bad for woman, can increase the risk of osteoporosis so I should quit!"

It has phosphoric acid in it which leaches the calcium from your bones - one reason why teenagers shouldn;t drink much, I htink about 50% (?) of you bone density is laid down during teenage years. Teenagers of today are potentially storing up a big osteoporosis risk.

bigknickersbigknockers · 11/10/2006 14:45

I have been addicted to coke on and off for about 20 years. Only normal coke or cherry coke will do, I dont like diet coke or pepsi though and I havent had coke zero because I havent had a drink of coke for about a year. (but I really want one now)

scarymaryme · 11/10/2006 15:00

sorry...no idea when the programme is on! dh thought tonight at 7 on 1tv...but doesn't appear it is!...maybe tomorrow?
I am also disturbed by the osteoporosis theory...thats bad! How can I kick the coke?????

scarymaryme · 11/10/2006 15:01

I used to drink loads of it but just stopped buying it one day. I have replaced it with tea, coffee and wine [hmmm], not sure if that is much better. I have some in the house just now as we had people over at the weekend and thought they might like some but after a break of a few months it just doesn't have the same kick.

MrsSpoon · 11/10/2006 15:09

or even !

My name is betty, and I'm a diet-coke-aholic.

I like MrsSpoons idea of replacing it with wine, but I'd be under the coffee table before lunch time.

lucy5 · 11/10/2006 15:36

I love coke and had stopped drinking it because I was drinking too much. Unfortunately my dr has recommended that I drink it because I am preggers and have low blood sugar, she insisted hat it was the full sugar version. Heeee heee ain't life a bitch!

MellowMonsta · 11/10/2006 15:39

My name mellow and I am also a coke-a-holic.

I have managed to keep it to one per day as dentist was telling me how bad it was. I tried to convince him it was alright as I brush my teeth after each can but he told me it would be brushing the acid from the coke into my teeth.

So now 1 can per day. Although I do like a little can of fizzy vimto too now.

MrsSpoon · 11/10/2006 15:40

LOL betty! I am pretty strict about the wine, certainly none before lunchtime!

MadameMorticiaMills · 11/10/2006 15:40

yuk, it tastes vile.

suejoneziscalmernow · 11/10/2006 16:06

some evidence recently released that women who drink more than 5 cans a week are at higher risk of Osteoporosis (but not men) though not clear whether it is the phosphoric acid which causes it or whether it is a diet lower in calcium which tends to be the case with higher coke drinkers..

bbc news release

suejoneziscalmernow · 11/10/2006 16:08

"What's interesting about this study is that most of the women did seem to be getting a good intake of calcium from other food sources, yet their bone density was affected by drinking as little as four cans of colas a week, which isn't much." -DR Tucker who ran the study

NOMurDErousPLUME · 11/10/2006 16:09

I absolutely cannot bear coke/cola drinks. The full fat makes my teeth feel all furry and squeaky and the diet stuff is just too fizzy and sweet. Grim stuff.

suejoneziscalmernow · 11/10/2006 16:10

and guess what a spokesperson for the British Soft Drinks Association said...

"The scientific evidence does not suggest that phosphate, used in the form of phosphoric acid in some carbonated drinks, has a detrimental effect on bone health" well he would say that wouldn't he
