DS has Stomach Pains

Has anyone else had a virus where you get sharp stabbing stomach pains.
My DS has been suffering from this a few times over the last year, but since last Friday he has been in pain with these stabbing stomach pains.
I took him to the doctor yesterday who said it could be a virus, migraine of the stomach or IBS and didn't give him anything to take or recommend anything either.
I have tried Gaviscon, Alka Setlzer, Hot Water Bottle, Calpol and it does seem to be relieving the pain.

Has anyone got any suggestions??

DD2 had this in the summer, lasted intermittantly for around 3weeks but still occasionally complains, our GP said like yours aboput it being a virus and to give calpol etc. The only trigger we found were grapes (but always gets tummy pains if she eats too many!)
