Perhaps they're coming down with measles...

thankyoupoppet · 07/10/2006 16:27

yeah actually I do feel like a bloody fight, bhg your post was unhelpful and antagonistic, just wish I hadn't risen to it now. There is no need for it and it does my head in.

It does amaze me the number of children who seem to get measles after MMR. I had it - not a bad case at all - and I was vaccinated. I remember I was in school and it was story time and my teacher started looking at me oddly, the spots had just appeared! How pleased I was to be sent home immediately!

In reply to OP I think I would use the ask the parents then decide rule as suggested.

When dd had it (she was unvaccinated) we had people ringing to come round to try and catch it off her
She was far too ill for visitors of course but how bizarre BTW my personal justification on no MMR vac for dd...
DS went into anaphylactic shock with his and nearly died.

hermykne · 07/10/2006 17:28

ok i'm not inviting anyone to my house
where we leave, there are two little girls as neighbours both 5, who just love to ring my doorbell morning noon and teatime [ grin], i refused entry whilst ds was asleep but i wondered could they come in if up.

they have their mmr.

if dd does get it from ds, how could i knoow until literally the spots appear, she has her mmr, and that could be 3 weeks away. so whoever gave it to my son, obviously didnt know they had it and its enevitable someone will get it. his nursery stipulates all kids have the mmr. and the owner has said if we were to incubate them at home it wouldnt work. so my kids arent mixing with kids who havent been vacinnated, i do know that.

and unfortunately ds is one of the kids who slipped into the 10% of vacinnated kids who get a mild form of measles.

It should be appreciated that an analphyactic reaction is seriously unlikely under ususal circumstances. When that happens it's due to a severe allergy and is not a reason for the average person to steer clear of MMR.

I understand Piffle's decision but just wanted to point that out.

hermykne · 07/10/2006 17:31

on one of the websites it says a child can return to school 5 days whence (is that a word) the spots appear. contagious 4 days prior and 4 days after 1st appearance.
will link if demanded
