hermykne I think you should let other parents know and then they can choose. Personally I'd be visiting you like a shot because I'd love for the opportunity for my children to get measles as we all did as kids so that they can get the correct, natural immunity and their immune systems can mature as nature intended.

These are deeply held views of mine with a great deal of excellent reading material to support them. I know I'm in the minority, but you never know, there may well be another like me in your area who your ds could play with during his period of quarantine.

hermykne · 07/10/2006 14:46

spidermama, hes not that fussed on playing with other kids, he is only 2 and his toys really keep him happy. its more for dd really, who loves ot be out and about.

god i cant wait for it to be over.

Hermykne - if your ds has been immunised, he will probly have a very mild attack, and get over it ok.
Hope it all gets better soon. It is tough on the child who is well to be cooped up indoors.

hbg,
She was never refered to as vile but her comment was.
IMO her comments sound like she is ill informed;
she was shocked that you could get measles after the mmr for example

she stated that immunisations are there for a reason; I was suggesting that she expand on that instead of making comments that don't hold any weight in a genuine debate; such as 'GET REAL'.

There was no ganging from me -or anyone else as far as I can see.

Your post was not very helpful.

threads evolve.
no bandwaggon jumping I can assure you. read my post again please you will find that I was asking for ill's genuine argument.

ills · 07/10/2006 16:05

Thankyou hbg. Please don't argue on my behaf. I think some posters just like to argue and there comes a point when it is no longer worth posting on a thread. I have worked in paediatrics for 10 years am very well informed but do not feel I will be listened to on this thread and will be abused so am no longer going to post on here. Thankyou again hbg

thankyoupoppet · 07/10/2006 16:09

ills I would be very interested to here your veiws. I am a paediatric nurse myself, I am genuinly interested in this debate. I most certainly do not wish for you to feel abused and do not like to just argue.
You just need to be sensitive to how people could missinterpret your post
(happens all too often on here, evidently)
I bugs me when people ruin a debate with this kind of crap.

who was getting nasty?
I commented on the fact that whatever your personal experiances you shouldn't make others feel bad for choosing a different aproach.

some of Ills comments were offensive to me certainly and im quite sure others would have been as well.

If Ills feels that i just argue for the sake of arguing then fair enough, she clearly hasn't bothered to check my history as if she had she would see that the majority of my threads are supportive, even if i dont necessarily agree with the persons behaviour
