Infant Gaviscon

My dd is 5 weeks old and on the recommendation of the health visitor we have been giving her infant gaviscon for the past 2 days as she suffers from reflux. However, she has not had a dirty nappy since Wed pm and as she is bf she usually has 4 or 5 a day. Has anyone else had this prob with gaviscon. It doesn't mention constipation as a side effect on the leaflet.

it can cuase constipation as i found with dd, if your giving two sachets, try reducing to one and see if both problems resolve?

Yes it had the exact same effect on my DD when she was a baby (her poos had been normal until starting on it), although I was beaten down by many health porffessionals who claimed it didn't cause constipation. She has ranitidine and domperidone for her reflux now though, so it itsn't as much as a problem.

Just spoke to doctor and he said that a bit of constipation is normal with infant gav and it will resolve itself but to keep on giving it to her. Have been giving 2 sachets but will cut down to one to see if it makes any difference.
