Hayfever Injection Anyone?

Has anyone had the hayfever injection?

I have only recently heard about this and I'm quite interested, at the minute I have to take beconasa nasal spray, eye drops and zirtek every day or it becomes a nightmare and the injection sounds very effective and alot more convenient.

I just want to know if there are any side effects?
How long it lasts etc before I go ahead and can you still have it if you are on anti-depressants as I know some ingredients react with each other.

Thanks

rae

do you mean the immunitherapy (sorry spelling?) where they inject pollen? my father had them years ago and recently a friend has had them- he travelled to spain as it is difficult to get hold of in uk -there was a few fatalities back in the 1950's/60's though this is now put down to lack of after care where the patient was discharged too quickly after the injections. you do have to have a course of them over a few months. i had a steriod injection for hayfever about 15 years ago which worked though only for that year. i now use a new product called a nasal air guard (see www.nasalairguard.com) based in cornwall .its a filter which fits into your nostrils and is drug free. should be in chemists soon though the inventor has been the subject of hostile take over bids where the big pharmaceutical companies have tried to buy him out to wipe the product because they make so much money from all the drugs/steriod inhalers etc. also if you are based anywhere near devon i have found a doctor that performs the pollen injections called dr. dickson tel. 01822 616131. have you tried local honey/nasal water spray/vasaline up the nose? i was going deranged last year - i use to carry a garden spray with me everywhere and just sprayed where ever i went - a sort of mobile rain shower which helped. before the nose filters i use to wear a big dust mask while driving which scared my children and the other drivers

I had it throughout my years at seconadry school and found it brilliant - would definately have it again if my hayfever was that bad again - I really don'ty think I would have been able to sit any exams without it!!
