cystocele / bladder prolapse

anyone else got this? I've had it AFAIK since ds was born nearly 3 years ago. My GP referred me to a consultant back then, but I bottled out and cancelled the appointment

I'm not sure what to do. It's a moderate prolapse but doesn't really cause many problems. The main thing is that I am unhappy about having it IYSWIM.

If I was to have surgery for it (which the GP said I would need, she said it's so bad exercises are going to touch it, which they haven't) I wouldn't be able to lift even a shopping bag for 3 months, so it's going to be impossible anyway for the foreseeable future.

Just wondering how other people have dealt with this - apparently it's a common prolapse in women who have had vaginal births.

Hi Geekgirl

I found out i had a cystocele after the birth of my 3rd child 2 yrs ago.My dd2 is now 9 weeks old and it has got worse.
I think i have now developed a rectocele too.No real problems as yet.My gp said that if things got worse or if things didn't settle down i should go back in a few weeks but like you i am scared to take things further.

hi agalch, sorry to hear your's has got even worse.
Thankfully no more babies for me, dh has had the snip.

It's difficult, isn't it? I mean, how on earth could anyone cope with not even lifting a bag of shopping for three months?
My parents are due to move in with us when they retire in 3 years' time, I might consider it then.

Hi Geekgrrl

This is my 4th baby so no more for me either.Dp is getting the snip too.
Theres no way i could be out of action for 3 months at he moment.I am a registered childminder so can't have time off sick anyway and with a 15 yr old ds1 and 11 yr old ds2 as well as two litle ones, hah wish all i had to do was lift a bag of shopping.

Will prob need an op at some stage but god knows when it'll happen. That's why i'm worried about going to the doc again in case they say its really really bad and i need an op now.My mum can't even help out as she is not in the best of health herself.

Oh well just have to get on with it don't we?
