Teeth cleaning for first milk teeth. Cleaning mitts?

hello, wondered if anyone has any advice on cleaning those first couple of teeth coming through? I read somewhere about some sort of mitts to clean them. So far just been using my finger and a tiny smidgen of paste but DS's teeth getting a wee bit too good at using their force.
Has any one used one? And where can one get one?
Also when do you clean them as my DS tends to fall asleep during the last feed and waking him up to clean those knashers would seem a shame but nor do I want his teeth to be full of holes

I start to clean my dd2(9 months) teeth with a baby toothbrush and paste but then i just let her knaw on it.

I also read about the mitts but couldn't find them so use brush & paste. DS loves it. I do them after breakfast. It says on his toothpaste tube to use just once a day.

just use one of those baby toothbrushes or the finger brushes you can get... with a teeny bit of toothpaste. my dd loves it, problem is she likes taking the toothbrush to bed with her!

my friend's dentist told her not to use baby toothpaste for some reason. can't remember why... has anyone else heard that?

magicfarawaytree · 05/10/2006 21:41

my friend was told the same about baby toothpaste by her dentist. apparently the water where she is does not have flouride in it or enought therefore she needed to use adult toothpaste to compensate.

we're in scotland, pretty sure we don't have fluoride so that'll be it. thanks magicfarawaytree.

i was told to use an adult toothpaste by HV as baby toothpaste is tasty and it is not good to teach them to eat it.adult paste is not nice for babies so they will spit it out, cos you use such a tiny amount fluoride is not apparently a prob.

hello again, i did track down one of these tooth cleaning thingamabobs if anyone is interested

I've been just using normal (baby)toothpaste but DS does seem to really like eating it and smacks his lips as if I'm about to feed him his favourite food!
