Hi @Womaninpain - you're doing brilliantly well with your recovery and sound more like my recovery from my first operation. I was 100% by 4 weeks and flew to Florida for a 2 week holiday at Disney World at 5 weeks and my bum wasn't an issue at all - no pain, discomfort, swelling, blood, odour, itching etc. It sounds like you won't have the long, drawn out recovery that some if us are having, and I really hope that proves to be the case for you :)
The cinema sounds like a bit of an ordeal with the fire alarm etc, but at least it showed you that you can function in the real world still. I was barely leaving my bed or the bathroom at 2.5 weeks, so you're doing great. I did go and see it last night though - 13.5 weeks post op!
The swelling does go down, but it takes time, and the itch disappears too, but is horrible as you can't scratch it! For public toilets I carry baby wipes which are just water, and also some damp cotton wool pads in a ziplock bag. I also have a little handheld mirror so I can check on things back there.
Regarding the skin tags, I would see how you get on with them before having them removed. I had them and they didn't really bother me, but thought I'd get the biggest one removed when I had my second op and that areas has caused me more discomfort than where the hemmie was removed. Personally, I won't have any more cutting down there unless it's absolutely necessary!
Hey @AusLady - how are you doing? Has the slight constipation cleared up? It's so frustrating trying to figure it all out isn't it? I'm now at 3 BMs in the morning instead of 2 and not sure why. Have a big one to start, then medium, then a small one to finish. Why it can't just all come out together, I have no idea!!! Pain when going is a lot less though - none with the first BM, then just slight discomfort with the second and third BM, and no bleeding still, so I'm grateful for that. Do you find that your BMs get looser as they progress? My first one is nice soft formed pieces (5 on the Bristol stool chart), but by the time I have my third, it's a lot looser - more like type 6. I find the looser stuff more uncomfortable to pass than the soft formed stuff
So, I'm now on a mission to get it all like number 5, and then eventually 4-5. I'm not sure if insoluble fibre would help with this, but still a bit scared to add it as I don't want the bleeding to start up again. Also, do you ever get a throbbing/pulsing sensation in your bum? I do occasionally, and am not sure why or if it's normal.
I wonder if the Daflon is because it's a European supplement and there just isn't a distributor for Australia? May be a business opportunity for you there
Busy week for me this week with 5 wedding, 3 consultations and a load of preparation to do for a last minute booking for a Great Gastby themed ball for next Tuesday, so I need my bum to cooperate!
@Vangallie - how are you doing now?
