Thinking about having my teeth whitened as a sort of reward for having some scary fillings done..but read in a mag someone describe it as like having ice cream trickled very slowly over your teeth..[shudder]..Can anyone tell me what it is like and any pitfalls?

It doesn't hurt whilest being done, but the solution can irritate the gums if it leaks thru the protective barrier. Afterwards your teeth will be sensative (am assuming you are thinking of the in surgery whitening). You will have to avoid extremes of temp and had a colourless diet for 24 hours.

The pitfall is that it doesn't last forever. I had mine done a few years ago now & I don't think you'd notice now. It can be expensive for very little result. Some of them promise shade changes of upto 9 shades lighter, but in reality you get around 4-5. Some people get higher, but less common.

right chioce to avoid beauty salons. Apart from the fact that it would be crap, I seriously doubt they are allowed to it! It's a dental procedure and they have neither the know how nor the qualifications to do it!
