Cholestasis

I had cholestasis when pregnant with ds plus other things and ended up with a cs because he was breech. Had to spend ages in hosptal, have him early etc. Does anyone know what the chances are of it happening again, not sure how I would manage the weeks of doing nothing and being in and out of hospital with an older child to look after
Thanks

I had it with both my ds's - sorry

I have had it in all three of my pregnancies, I was told by my consultant that if you've had it before then you have a 33%chance of having it in future pregnancies.

hello zubin

I had cholestasis with my first too and am worried, like you, about going for a second. I've always asked the consultants etc about the chances of getting it again and they won't give me a percentage chance, but they say it's 'likely' that you'll get it again if you've had it once. Having said that, I know of lots of women who haven't had it with all their babies, so I suppose it's luck of the draw.

I had my (supposed to be) final post-baby blood test a couple of weeks ago to make sure everything is back to normal with my LFTs and, joy of joys, they're not back to normal! My bilirubin is still up. They're deciding what to do with me now!

Guess that means I'll def get the itchies with another preg and another early induction
