How long before these stitches 'dissolve'?

Hi,
Had my implanon removed 3 weeks ago now. Needless to say it was a complete cockup and I had to have a couple of stitches to stick my arm back together. Big and black they are. Anyway they're still there. No change at all except now it's getting a tad sore, really quite painful and red. I wasn't told to go back to have them removed so assumed (probably wrongly) that they were those dissolvable ones. Does anyone know how long those stitches last and is it looking likely that I'll have to go back? Any ideas?

I thought dissolvable one were transparent.

Hmmmm......so why didn't they tell me to go back and have them taken out?????

I'll be blooming mad if this is the case I can tell you as it's really sore today and hurts when the kids touch my arm.

I might be wrong, but it sounds like they are'nt dissolvable stiches and after 3 weeks your body is trying to reject them.

TBH it sounds like you're right. Think will call GP right now.
Thanks.

Just to cahnge the subject and add an owowow

Koshka - let's just say I had it put in towards the end of May this year and have now had it taken out. 1st month ok, then weight gain, spots, mood swings, sex drive - though not great - completely dissappeared, and in general I felt dreadful. GP said is wasn't the implant that was causing it - funny really, it's been out 3 weeks now, have lost 1/2 stone, no spots and feel so much better - I think like all contraceptives it's not one size fits all, it may work fine for someone else but deffo not for me.

Waterfalls - Have foned GP, apparently I should've booked an appointment to have the stitches taken out by now as they've been in too long! So why wasn't I told? They just said, "Ok, that's you done then, bye" I'm quite cross with them atm . Going Friday am to get them taken out - bet that's going to hurt a lot as well what with it being so red and sore now.

Poor dh had a small op on the base of his spine(yep, his bum)and was told he had dissolveable stitches but they weren't and he had to have them removed because they got infected and it was agony.
That said I had a stitch left in my tummy after a gallbladder op and it just pulled out neatly after the scar had healed.

and they are leaving it til Friday!! I wouyld have thought they would have got you in today.
