Tight forskin

Is this an issue for anyone else's son? My 6yr old DS has a very tight forskin which does not pull back at all. He was seen by a paediatrician(?)when about 3yrs who said circumcision was not necessary and it would sort itself out. It has not got any better though. It doesn't bother him at all at the momment but I'm concerned that it will be a problem when he is older and is more embarassed about it.
Any experience of this?

My DH had this and was eventually circumcised in his 20s - he wishes that he had had it done earlier.

Oh no that is what I fear, but the Dr's seem v reluctant regarding circumsision. Obviously I would want to avoid this if possible....anyone have son's who just grew out of this...so to speak?

Hiya,

DS1 is 7, he had phimosis which is tight foreskin, he was getting infections and so had to have a circumcision in the summer hols. Absolutely awful at the time but he loves it now and says it feels really comfy.hth

Yes I know a lot about this as 2 of my sons have hypospadias (look it up) and the other has a tight foreskin. The one with the tight foreskin was seen by the surgeon operating on my other sons and we were told a tight foreskin is not an issue until they are about 14 years old. Your son should, however, attempt to retract his foreskin when he has a bath - just to try to loosen it up.

He isn't getting infections and it doesn't seem to bother him, so I guess better to wait and see. I have encouraged him to gently pull it back but he says it hurts and so prfers to just leave it alone. I just don't want it to be an issue for him when he's older.
