poor little baby owl

hiya,
i know there was a thread on this recently but i cant remember what it was called and cant find it! dd 3 months has got an absolute stinker of a cold and the poor little mite is so unhappy. what can i do?

My dd is still recovering from her nasty bug ... and watching her struggle with a blocked nose was awful ...
I found two things have helped

1. A few drops of saline solution (you can buy it from a phamacy) up each nostril about 5 minutes before a feed and just before she goes to bed helped loosen it all up a bit and helped her settle ...
2. One or two drops (no more for such a little baby) of Eucalyptus oil on a muslin tied to the end of her cot ... just so that you can smell it ... it seemed to help.

Another tip is to raise the top end of her cot/bed slightly - not so much that she slides down to the end, but enough to raise her head above her chest. This is supposed to help tubes to drain more efficiently.

I also bought a humidifier from Boots. It has special pads containing various oils which are supposed to aid breathing.
