Aw Soupy - How nasty! Glad things are improving. Pneumonia seems extraordinarily common at the moment.

Thanks for all your messages. We're now back to civilisation with broadband and a mobile phone signal. I really can't fault Bath RU hospital - fantastic. DS1 managed to come out with a course of antibiotics, 2 large easter eggs, a bionicle and an addiction to computer games.

He was completely himself by Sunday although the doctor did point out that "he was lippy enough on Friday". 3 weeks having a hospital in his class Role Play area versus numerous years in med school... no contest really. If we'd been local, they would have kept him in another day but after impressing on us just how ill he'd been they let us go off on our holiday if we promised to take him straight to the nearest A&E with a letter if he started to get worse again.

Pneumonia was the bonus diagnosis after a chess xray, ruling out the 2 other close runners, appendicitus and meningitis. It's not often doctors are delighted to see shadows like that on a lung!

Hope your DD has made an equally swift recovery, Tissy.

SoupDragon · 17/04/2004 15:02

Chess xray??? I meant chest xray, obviously.

melsy · 17/04/2004 15:05

suedonim · 17/04/2004 18:47

Glad your ds is fine now, Soupdragon!

Hulababy · 17/04/2004 18:59

That's brilliant news Soupy!

hercules · 17/04/2004 19:06

Pleased for you soupy!

Tissy · 17/04/2004 20:26

Glad your ds is OK, soupy. My dd is doing fine. She came out of hospital with antibiotics, a ventolin inhaler and a Noddy Easter egg. On the way out she screamed, "no wanta home, back in, back IN!" The children's ward had a ball pool AND a talking Barney- two perfectly good reasons not to go home, in her eyes! She hasn't wheezed at all for the last two days, so we're hoping that this wasn't the start of asthma (although we do have it in the family).

LadyMuck · 17/04/2004 20:32

Glad to hear that you're all back safely. Hope that ds gets another go at the hospital role-play as I'm sure he'll be a great delight to his teachers with his inside knowledge
