Can antibiotics make you feel weird and disturb your sleep?

Hi, For a few days I've been feeling strange - spaced out, clumsy, disorgansied and forgetful (even more so that normal ). Also I'm really tired because it feels like I'm awake most of the night.

This seems to have started when I started taking a course of antibiotics - 400g Metronidazole - twice a day.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Metronidazone can certainly make you feel drowsy, dizzy and unsteady, so the spaced-out feeling, sleepiness and clumsiness could well be to do with that.

Have you had any alcohol with it? That would certainly explain your symptoms. Though it can rarely cause dizziness etc on its own..

Great, thanks WWB, just needed to know that it's not something more ominous.

jan, no not had any alcohol, don't feel dizzy exactly, just weird. I'm very small (43kg) so maybe it's a strong dose for me.
