Strep B

Can anyone please tell me what Strep B is how bad it is? My best friend gave birth on 15th september 06 and been rushed into hospital with strep b and also has 'stuff' left inside her.

is she or baby going to die? i have a feeling this is bad isnt it?

some good info here

I tested positive for strep b in pregnancy, (a side effect of having some test done for recurrent thrush) but ds didn't have any problems when born. Most babies don't but it can affect babies in a serious way. It doesn't usually affect the mother though.
