i gave my dd her mmr and the new one last week, she took to both of them very well

CarlyP · 26/09/2006 23:47

is there any evidence to back up the safety of this 2nd one........

my boys are nrly 2 and nrly 3, so the eldest wont be 'eligible', so i figure y give it to ds2.....

Check out earlier threads, there were a couple about this with lots of info and links. It's to immunise against pneumococcal meningitis (I presume you are talking about Prevenar?).

I am taking ds2 for his tomorrow.

THANKS, WILL TAKE A LOOK.

My dh is in negotiations with our GP and HV to get it for our kids who all fall outside the age range as he has seen a cild of 3 with pneumococcal who died of Meningitis (he's a doc). SOunds liek a very worthwhile vax to us (and we have had almost all, butt not the MenC booster as he thought that was a waste of time)

My daughter had it as my niece died from pneumococcal meningitis

she has had no side effects at all.

There are lots of threads on this subject.

dd had hers on Monday and yesterday she was running a temp and was violently sick (really scared her as she has only ever been sick 3 times in her life), she is still running a temp today but seems happier in herself today.

sorry also meant to say that I decided to get it done as pneumococcal meningitis looks and sounds very scary and my thoughts were that I would rather dd have the vaccine than pneumococcal meningitis.
