Really Swollen Face

This is the secound day running dh has had to go to work with one side of his face looking like something out of a horror movie. It swells up when he has had his breakfast - he thinks there may be a link with chewing. It takes a few hours to go down.
Last summer the side of his face swelled up when we were staying with friends(and stayed swollen and very painful) and the local doctor gave him antibiotics and advised a visit to the dentist- who didn't come up with anything. I know it sounds strange but I was wondering if it has anything to do with salivary glands getting blocked. Has anyone heard of this? I know he will have to see the Dr. but being a bank holiday it will be a while before he can ,so I was wondering what he could do in the meantime.

Yes it might be a blocked salivary duct.
Where exactly is the swelling?

Jasper - thanks for your reply
It is in front of his ear and when it is not swollen is quite painful to touch . I am worried that when we make a drs appointment it will have gone down and will only come back when we are away , He is not that keen on going to the drs - typical man
