Cradle cap

Hi,
DS1 (10 wks) has really bad cradle cap and I can't seem to shift it. I am using Dentinox which did work on DD1, but it seems to be having no effect. I have also tried baby oil, but as he has baby excema it makes his skin worse. Also tried olive oil but that just makes everything slimy. Does nayone have any other suggestions??

Thanks.

Hi, have you tried brushing his hair with a soft baby brush... this tends to loosen it and with regular brushing... yes even if they are bald... keeps it at bay...

Does his scalp look red and angry as well as scaley? I seem to remember my son having a really nasty scalp condition when he was a baby, on top of having very bad eczema too. Had to apply an antibiotic cream (can't remember the name of it) to his head and it cleared up really quickly.

My three all had cradle cap. Vaseline worked really well on DS and cleared up within a week. I tried everything on DD1, who still gets it occasionally aged 4yrs, only to discover Johnsons Baby Oil. It also worked on DD2. Yes, it can be slimey but you have to work a little bit in at a time, leave it for about an hour and try to shift it a little at a time with your nail. Brushing the head with a soft baby brush removes dead skin cells and stops too much of a build up. Dentinox can be very severe in some babies and doesn't always suit. Hope this helps.

DS had harrendous cradle cap, exacerbated by eczema. Everything I tried made his eczema worse and it got infected. In the end I just left it alone and then when he was about 5 months it all fell off, just like that. Took his hair with it though! But it all grew back a few weeks later. I think if I had another baby I wouldn't bother trying to get rid of it, the whole thing became such a PITA
