Heavyish bleeding a week after end of period.

I spot a lot between periods but usually about 5-7 days before the actual period starts properly. However this week I have has a big bleed exactly a week after my period finished - heavy enough for me to have thought my period had started were it not for the timing. This is much earlier and heavier than my usual spotting and it's upsetting because we're TTC so it feels like a wasted month if it carries on. This is the second day of bleeding and I'm a bit worried - has anyone else experienced this?

Have you done a pregnancy test, just in case?

Yes, a definite negative (sadly). It's really odd, I just wanted an idea of how common this might be before I bother the GP.
