Unusually heavy period, Is this NORMAL?

This is only my second period since having my dd 3 months ago. The first was like my old periods not too heavy and with not much pain. This time I have to use 2 forms of protection and I still leak and the pain is as bad as when I was a teenager. Is this normal as I feel really uncomfortable.

It could be, periods tend to change after having babies. Mine were fairly normal but way less painfull after dd1, but then I had dd2 and ds1 very close together and no period in between once I stopped bf my period were and still are three years later very very heavy for a couple of days. I've just been prescribed something called transemic acid or something like that, which reduces the flow and pain if it carries on ask your gp. In the meantime snuggle up with a hot water bottle.

I'm with glassofwine here. I thought my periods were bad before I had children and was hoping the old wives tale of them sorting themselves out would be true. Incidently I was also told by doctors I may have trouble conceiving as they were erratic and I may not be ovulating properly - not the case I fell pg within minutes of trying both times!!! Anyway I digress. I'm now on my second period since having dds and it is really heavy and painful. Can't suggest anything but just so you know you're not alone!
