Best remedies for mouth ulcers?

I am prone to these especially during winter, when I have a cold or PMT....
I'm getting over an infection at the mo and have a lovely big ulcer on inside of my cheek and another one on side of my tongue which is very painful as it rubs on my teeth Angry

I've been using Bonjela which is lovely for all of five minutes unless I overdose on the stuff.... Anything else I can try?

Rinstead lozenges sometimes help.

Warm salt water mouthwash.

Brushing your teethe frequently. I know this sounds weird, but I get ulcers on my cheek, and they take forever to heal, and it hurts to brush my teeth in that area. Yet if I brush with my sonic toothbrush they heal vastly faster than easing off on the brushing and using an OTC treatment that I have tried. I think using the sonic brush is better than a manual brush because there's less rubbing on the sore skin.

The absolute best medication for mouth ulcers is Adcortyl in Orabase, but it's not available in the UK any more. Do you know anybody abroad who could post you some. It's available OTC in many countries.

Friend keen on alternative meds suggested liquorice, but have not had problem to try it. At least it's easy to find and unlikely to cause serious problems.
