I've been suffering from tension type headaches for at least a decade now. I've self diagnosed them as tension headaches as they are always accompanied by a real tension and tenderness on the muscles up the back of my neck.
I feel like they've been getting more frequent and lasting longer over the last few years. Typically now I wake up with a mild pain which increases over the course of the day, sometimes to levels so painful I find I can't sleep that night. Sometimes they go and come back over 48 hours. I'm generally getting a headache episode once every two weeks.
For many years I took two 30/500 mg cocodamol tablets which really worked to stop the pain, but last year I stopped taking then as it seemed their long term use had really damaged my stomach, causing 8h+ stomach pains after taking them. I now take no pain killers at all and it's not easy.
Does anyone else get headaches like this? What worked for you?
I've been trying to get more exercise, I've massively reduced the stress in my life (quit my job!), I've been to an osteopath, but nothing has worked.
Any words of wisdom? Do you I need different drugs?
