Achy and painful ankle - brought on by heat? Am I mad?

For the last few years I've noticed that my ankle can get very painful (like I've sprained it) very suddenly. Quite often the pattern seems to be when my ankle gets hot. A few months ago, I had a hot bath and my ankle started hurtin like buggery and continued for the rest of the evening and following few days.

Last night I got hot in bed and my ankle started hurting and it's still twinging now. A year or so ago we had really warm weather early in the year. My ankle was really painful to the extent I put a support on it. I went to the gps, blood test neg or rheum arthritis.

My ankle quite often hurts in the morning and can be stiff for a while. This may be osteo arthritis no? I can't find anything on the web obout heat causing pain, which is where I think I'm going mad? Can this be the case.
