Terrible skin break outs after stopping the pill - should I give up and go back on it?

I came off of the pill (Femodene) in June after being on it for about 7 years. The main reason I came off was because I had a cervical cancer scare and I read that the pill could contribute to cell changes. I also read a lot about the level of hormones in the pill and how they can be bad for the body so I thought I'd try and go natural for a while.

I am regretting this decision massively. I had no skin problems at all while on the pill and even before I went on it, I only had the odd spot. Since my first pill free period, my skin has been a mess. My chin is covered in angry, red spots and it is so painful all the time. It is also spreading to other areas of my face and it's really getting me down.

I went to my GP and explained and she didn't seem to think it was a big deal and prescribed Zineryt. This was OK at first but after a while, it stopped having any effect. I also ordered adult acne cream online but that isn't helping either. I am reluctant to go on acne medication so I am considering going back on the pill as my confidence is being affected by this. Some days I look so bad I don't want to go out.

Would you advise going back on the pill? Has anyone ever experienced this?

I suddenly got pretty spotty when I came off the pill, although not as bad as yours sounds to be honest. My skin is totally back to normal now but it has taken a really long time - nearly a year. Scary how much those hormones can have a lasting affect on your body! A friend came off the pill and her skin turned really bad, sounds similar to you, and even her back became covered in red painful spots. Im not sure how long she lasted, only a few months I think before she gave up and went back on the pill.

Sorry - probably not much help!
