My sister I have just found out is suffering quite badly with pmt. She is having painful periods and during the "time of the month" is on the verge of killing her dh.. .

She went to her gp who suggested prozac which I think was to balance her hormones BUT she is a non believer in ad's (personal choice). Any suggestions..? Mum has suggested some herbal remedy which I don't know the name of but I suggested holland and barrett..? Anyone any experience and what did you do/take.

TIA xx

So sorry to hear about your sis. I would be very snappy the week before AF so decided to take Vit B6 as it was the only thing that was constant in any articles on PMT. I have been making a real effort to keep my sarcasm under wraps and its only early days but I'm determined to beat the blues. Do post any herbal remedies you come across.

Shhh, there are lots of us on here who suffer from it, and we have tried a variety of things, incl Agnus CAStus complex, Starflower oil, Magnesium ok. I haven't tried these yet as am still breastfeeding, but it might be better to try herbal before going down route of ads

Thanks everyone. I didn't know she was suffering so bad but hopefully she can improve things and maybe use the ad route as a last option.

I'm not a suffered of pmt BUT do suffer from PND and when pregnant my hormones are all over the show so I know how it can be slightly. Poor dh's eh..!!

Shhhh

i know this is bit personnel but is she on the pill, I'm only asking as when i was taking the pill i suffered very badly from pmt and went from either killing dh or myself.

DH took the decided in the interest of everyone safety that he threw them away.

I still suffer but not as much i now probaly i one realy bad month every 3 to 4 months where i get to the point where i get on my own nerves and if there was someway to leave me alone and so i can get on with what i need to do.

Sorry if the offends but just thought it might be something else for your sister to look into.

perhaps ask the doctor to do some hormone test as know for me i do have an hormone inbalance, i also don't like or wont to take ad's.
