Phew thegreylady that's good news, from one old lady to another

charmingtime · 18/09/2014 09:30

Sad just had a call from my GP, a screening mamogram has shown an abnormality and I now also have an urgent referral to the breast clinc. Something else to worry about and its not helping that I am away with work this week and on my own in a different timezone.

thegreylady · 18/09/2014 11:22

Oh charming I am sorry you have this extra worry. An abnormality isn't necessarily cancer, it could be fibroids or cysts but it does need checking. My breast cancer showed on a mammo and although it was an aggressive type here I am 8 years later with anxiety my current worst problem.
Go on the Tamoxigang thread on here, they/we will help you through until and after you know exactly what is going on. Take care love and let us know how you get on.

2old2beamum · 18/09/2014 11:33

Charming, try not to worry to much. easier said than done. I had a mastectomy in 1993 and am still here.
Once the diagnosis was made I felt a bit better knowing what I was up against. The waiting was awful.
Remain over anxious of health though.
Flowers for you.

Thinking of you. Xxxxx

charmingtime · 18/09/2014 15:06

Thank you for your kind words, it means alot to me.

I am feeling a bit woobly, jet lagged and have chronic tummy pain still.

I am just focussing on getting home this weekend which I am sure will make feel better.
I will venture on the other thread when I am feeling a bit braver, this one has been a bolt out of the blue which I am sure is the same for everyone

Thanks for all of you lovely ladies

CariadsDarling · 22/09/2014 06:41

How are you Charmingtime?

It must be so hard being away from all things familiar.

Le1890 · 22/09/2014 09:54

Sitting waiting to see a diff gp to try and explain all my bowel issues and to hopefully get a second GI opinion as no tests ever been done.

My stomach is in knots! Why do I feel so confident in lead up then sitting in waiting room I loose focus and nervous. :( x

Le1890 · 22/09/2014 09:59

Charmingtime just read back the posts for past week. In sorry this has come up. Thinking of you and here to hand hold. Hoping all will be well for you!x

charmingtime · 22/09/2014 17:57

Thankyou Cariads and Le1890.

I got back saturday after many flight cancellations and delays, I ended up being a tearful mess in the main airport and on the longest flight. The lovely flight attendants kept filling up my wine glass until I feel asleep and slept for the remainder of the flight.

I have spoken to GP and hospital today and I have my breast clinic appointment this Tuesday so not long to wait thankfully.

Then I filled in all of the admission forms for my colonoscopy next week, feel drained tonight.

how is everyone else feeling?

CariadsDarling · 23/09/2014 15:10

Charming just nipping in to say Hi and ask how you are?

charmingtime · 23/09/2014 22:02

Hello Cariads, I am doing okay thank you.
Nerves have started to set in about tomorrow so I have been keeping myself busy.

Finding it very difficult not to worry, DH is away and dcs are in bed so very difficult not to let my mind wander.

thegreylady · 23/09/2014 23:13

Just popping in to offer a hand to hold. I hope all is resolved soon and you will be able to stop worrying xx

Le1890 · 24/09/2014 13:54

Handholding for you today Charmingtime x

wfrances · 24/09/2014 14:21

just updating
saw upper gi consultant and both my upper and lower valves are not working.
im waiting for a 24 hr test to see ifts bad enough for them to operate.
he thinks thats why my hair is falling out, periods are stopping and i have no energy because food isnt there long enough for nutrients to be used.

turns out the pain , that has had me in a&e - under my left rib is not my stomach (surgeon in a&e said it was-and endoscopy should reveal cause)
its my bowel!!
(god forbid a surgeon who cant tell between stomach and bowel!)

upper gi also agreed i needed an urgent
colonoscopy so put in a form there and then so that should get me a little closer but that was 22 days ago and still heard nothing.

he also mentioned a ct scan if nothing showed up under my rib ,on colonoscopy as its pretty close to my not working bottom valve and they dont usualy stop working unlike the top ones.so hes a bit??

IzzyG03 · 24/09/2014 16:44

Hi, can I jump in too, have been having bad lower back pain and painful dragging feeling in my pelvis along my two c section scars and sore feeling in my bladder which is better when I go to the loo. It started last Saturday, but have always had c section scar pain (from 12 years ago, no less!). So I bit the bullet and saw the doctor this am. She has referred me for an internal and external scan to check for adhesions and a scan on my ovaries. I will hopefully know tomorrow when my scan date will be.

Now I am home and yes, I have googled.... I knew I shouldn't do it but I did... Oh how I wish I hadn't .... Why did I?? I am a nervous wreck trying hard to keep it together for DH and DDs convinced it's the worst and I have OC.......

It's the waiting that is awful..... My heart keeps saying that there is no point in worrying as we don't know anything yet.... My head says otherwise! I am just full on panicking....

Thank you so much for starting this thread, I feel for each and every one of you in the same position and further down the line.

Deep breath, keep calm, deep breath, keep calm...........

CariadsDarling · 24/09/2014 16:59

Hello ladies, how is everyone?

Charmingtime?

charmingtime · 24/09/2014 17:11

Hello ladies, thank you for all of the hand holding it has really helped x

I spent a long time in the breast clinic today, saw the consultant who was not very happy that I had not brought my films from my Mammogram which was done in a different hospital. I was then sent for an ultrasound. When I eventually got into the scan room the lovely people had phoned the other hospital and had my scan results on screen. They did the ultasound scan and confirmed that the lump is solid tissue and not a cyst. Then they did a biopsy under local.
I have to go back in 2 weeks for the results although they did say that it looked benign but they couldn't be sure so more waiting for me. I spent over three hours in there and am feeling quite wrung out. My biopsy area is still bleeding as well.
The staff were all so lovely and all women waiting were supporting each other which was really nice too.

IzzyG03 sorry to hear that you are also suffering and waiting and hope that your appointment is soon.

wfrances I hope that your colonoscopy is booked soon too, I have mine next week unexplained pain is always worrying for us.

thegreylady · 24/09/2014 20:15

Oh heck more waiting for you all. Charming you have two lots of worries at once, I wish it was all over for you xx

wfrances · 24/09/2014 20:38

charming- my mum and auntie had the same -thankfully both biopsys were clear.
apparently they have "dense" breasts?

how long have you waited for your colonoscopy?

charmingtime · 24/09/2014 21:12

That is re-assuring to hear wfrances I am glad that your mum and Aunt are okay.

For the colonoscopy I saw my consultant on the Thursday and he offered me dates of the following week or two weeks later. I opted for the 2 weeks later because I was out of the country last week. He talked me through the procedure and sent me home with my bowel prep.

I am having a naughty glass of mid week wine x

CariadsDarling · 25/09/2014 04:57

Charming, naughty is good :)

In fact it can be delicious!

thegreylady · 25/09/2014 22:46

Enjoy x

charmingtime · 27/09/2014 19:46

Oh dear I have shooting pains in the breast that was biopsied and my temp is going up Sad This is not what I need right now with my colonoscopy booked for early next week.
