Have they been trying long? Could suggest they go to a herbalist or doctor, depending what is their thang... People often take advice from a professional that they won't take from a friend.

i wouldnt say anything. as long as they are not dirnking a ton every ngiht when preg, y bother about it. jsut because you have a 3mth old doesnt mean you can tell them how to conceive...

I am expecting number 5 and never gave up drink while trying. In fact when trying for over a year for dd1 my consultant actually told me to go out get pissed and relax

Hmm, I didn't give up drinking when TTC and conceived in the first month - you can't assume that alcohol is the issue at all, in fact it probably would help people who are becoming fixated with TTC to have a few drinks and relax. Everyone I know who conceived quickly had a similar relaxed approach as well, it was the girls who gave up everything who took a lot longer. Unless your friends ask you for advice, I'd say not to mention it...

I'd agree that it's best not to mention it. It's true that alcohol consumption can affect fertility in both men and women, but they may well already know that. Hard when you are TTC and get excited, anxious then disappointed to stay off the wine.

If a friend asked me for advice, I'd tell them that drinking excessively (in either partner) when TTC is not a good idea. If I wasn't asked, I'd keep it to myself. Alcohol may well not be the issue (as it isn't in many cases where there is delay in conceiving) and I don't think I would want to offer unsolicited advice, however well intentioned.
