Dd is going in to hospital on Friday for an op on her eyes, she has just had a friend to play who coughed and sniffed the whole time he was here. What if she gets a cold before Friday?

Its not the anaesthetic as such, but the clearness of the airways, and chest. I believe....

Also, maybe the low immune system making them prone to infection?

I think if she gets a cold they would probably postpone the op as the GA can effect your respiration. Why don't you run an internet search to be sure?

she will be examined by the anaesthetist before the op to make sure she is fit for anaesthetic. They can give drugs that dry up secretions etc so unless she was really unwell, it shouldn't be a problem. You can't do anything about it, so just hope for the best. They won't operate if she isn't well enough.

She will have to wait until december if she is unfit, I will be really bummed if that happens!
