Do you have general "bother" with your stomach? What works for you?

Probably 5 days out of 7 I'll have an uncomfortable stomach - wind, bloating, pain etc. Doesn't seem to happen in a pattern, as such, ie it's not that milk products would set it off, for example. I mostly poo once a day, drink lots of water, levels of roughage decent, although I don't eat fruit. Would a peppermint capsule help? I'm sure it's nothing more sinister (IBS etc), but it's getting me down and would like to try some self-help remedies/supplements before I bother the doctor.

Thanks in advance,

I find avoiding lectins helps.

I had a bad stomach with awful acid and burning pains which seemed to be getting so bad I could hardly eat anything without pain. The GP prescribed ranitidine (or Zantac). He said to take one in the morning and one a at night for a while to see how it goes. They were a minor miracle as they seemed to cure it and I haven't had a bad stomach all that much since I stopped taking them. I took them for about a month.
