What have I done to my knee?

This morning I stepped over one of the DC who was lying on the stairs but somehow managed to miss the last few steps and so landed very heavily on my left foot.

My leg buckled and I ended up sprawled on floor saying "owwwwww" and thinking "fuuuccck" cos my knee really hurt.

Anyway, have taken ibuprofen and tried to keep leg up (but 3 DC to look after so not exactly day of rest) but it is still really sore.

Pain is worst when put any weight on leg whilst knee is bent so getting up from sitting, stairs etc all painful. No swelling but I do have two bruises either side of my kneecap and when I straighten leg it feels like it is going to over straighten and my knee bend the wrong way.

So, is this a wait and see thing? Or have I knackered it and need some kind of investigation / treatment / crutches?

DH away until tomorrow pm so either need to find childcare or take 3 DC with me to seek medical attention so waiting is appealing but I go on holiday Friday and the ability to walk would be good...

No, don't wait and see. Go and get it checked out as soon as you can. Esp as you are going on holiday this week. Whatever is wrong, if there is some treatment to be done, it's best for it to start asap. 'No swelling' is good sign though -so hopefully a sprain. Even though you don't have swelling, have you tried ice packs on it?

Thanks. Will try to get to GP in morning, just hope not sent to minor injuries for 3 hour wait with kiddies in tow.
