And what was it about that time that did it for you?

I have had happier moments or happier days but overall, my life now is the happiest it has ever been.

Am hoping the best is still to come though

Now, I think, even though I loathe my job. All through my teens, 20s and 30s I always wanted more, was never ever happy with what I did or what I was doing. Always having this inner ?hunger? for more happiness, more challenges, more money, more thrills.

Now I?ve hit 40, I seem to appreciate more what I have and not as completely cuckoo as I was in my 30s.

My absolute happiest? That would be the 18 months or so after DH proposed - I was slim and gorgeous, really enjoyed my job, loved planning our wedding, had the best wedding EVER ... and had a fab honeymoon period of 6 months or so.
Am still very happy now but once I got pg with DS all sorts of worries set in - pregnancy worries, baby worries, money worries etc etc ...
Life is great now - I am very happy in general but sometimes I find it all (parenthood, responsibility etc) very overwhelming and just want to go back to the days when life was simple.

Now, watching dd trying VERY hard to crawl, she has just smiled at me and managed to get herself sitting from lying. DH is asleep in bed having a lie in. I've got my cup of tea.

Maybe if I were lying on our favourite beach in Crete, and I have had more than the 4 hours sleep I could be happier.

Tamba, what a lovely post.

Me? Now. (I dont know if that's the drugs doing it though, but who cares! )

I was happiest as a child when I spent all of my school holidays with my cousins in Shrewsbury. I lived in London with my mother, but she's a bit mad so it wasn't great for me. Now I feel very stressed and over worked with all the kids and I'm looking forward to a time when I can discover my own interests again.

I would have to say when i was 16-19 years old, not a care in the world earning good money and spending it on things i did'nt need. Being able to party all night and stay in bed in the mornings.

anniebear · 16/09/2006 09:45

Surely I'm not the only one who hasn't been the happiest since having kids!!!!! lol

anniebear · 16/09/2006 09:46

I'm very happy now,but a golden childhood on a tiny tropical island with my parents and sisters was,we all agree,a magical time.
