And why? Sorry to ask, but I really don't want to go back on the pill (and dh doesn't want me to either) and I'm not sure how to approach this - I've got 2 boys, (12 weeks and 2yrs) and I'm breastfeeding, but need to address this before our luck runs out!

Ooh, little part of me hopes it does, TBH (made sure DH had it spelled out to him in triplicate at the start that it was more risky - and I do like to show him my little green light - friend of ours just tricked her H into getting pregnant which I think is beyond appalling) we agreed we'd handle the consequences if it didn't work....(thinks longingly of baby in style of 24X7 gap advert...)

lou33 · 18/09/2006 00:27

hey moo, i'll take the condoms off your hands

Albert · 18/09/2006 02:00

I've been on the pill for ever it seems. A variety of different pills over the years and never had a problem with any of them, no spots, extra wieght, moood swings. I have been extremely happy and will continue to use them (currently using Microdial, not sure if you have that in the UK) I got pregnant at first attempt despite being told it would take upto 18 months because of my age and the amount of time I'd been on the pill.
Having read the whole of this thread I realise I am very lucky

asur · 18/09/2006 10:07

can i ask what may be a really stupid question: is there an environmentally friendly way to dispose of condoms? they are perfect contraception for us but I hate throwing them out (I do though before anyone asks..) Can they be composted/put in wormery? Are there eco-friendly ones?

Sophiev73 · 18/09/2006 11:26

Not sure to be honest - not something that has bothered me before - maybe it should have?? In the v funny book 'Wives of Bath' an eco-warrior dad reuses his - yuk - and that's how they got pregnant in the first place!

condoms when first together, then persona once married as having a child would not have been a disaster, worked for us for a year and then made conceiving fairly easy as new my cycle so well. After DS back to condoms and then persona again, now nothing and using persona to ttc again.

was on the pill when first with DH but did not suit me, I was rubbsih at remembering to take it every day and got cystitis all the time (apparently no link with that and the pill but have not had it since I stopped the pill)

We have a ton of condoms but it's usually the rhythm method, or withdrawal.

Hah!
bloody 24 wks PG now thanks to that rhythm /withdrawl method so i'm never having sex again

Tatties · 18/09/2006 12:22

Asur, that's a very interesting question. We use them, but I wish they were a bit more eco-friendly. I didn't really realise anyone could get them for free, thought it was just students! Will have to look into it. You can get a pack of 10 known-brand condoms in Wilko for £1 though.

CheesyFeet · 18/09/2006 13:07

We don't usually use any contraception, we have condoms if needed but we tend to have non-penetrative sex a lot of the time.

CheesyFeet · 18/09/2006 13:08

LTH - I think you and all the other mums of many are proof positive that having small children doesn't hinder your sex life too much

LadyTophamHatt · 18/09/2006 13:14

Dh would disaggree with you 100% ATM cheesyfeet

Fimbo · 18/09/2006 13:32

Dh had the snip a few months ago. He says it was a breeze and would recommend it.

Pumpkin20 · 18/09/2006 14:01

Don't even think of using Persona! Used it for one month - followed instructions to the letter and played it extra safe for a few days besides. Baby is due in Feb.

BabiesEverywhere · 18/09/2006 15:28

Ermm....we are currently use the 'no sex' approach to avoiding additional babies...sadly as my sex drive has returned with a vengance and DH is being patient and bouncy.

My labour last month left me with a third degree tear and damage to my 'back end' and countless stitches, it took them over an hour to sew me back together again.

I am scared sex will hurt or the scar tissue will open up.

I am also terrified of getting pregnant again (even using condoms), as we fell pregnant straight away last time and I don't know if I could go though another bad labour experience.

So it will probally be condoms for us but 'in a while'...unless DH gets me drunk ;)

mumfor1standfinaltime · 18/09/2006 15:36

I am on logynon pill, have been for about 14 yrs!
Just been reading dh this thread and he said he would try withdrawal contraceptive if it's what I wanted, hmm is he trying to tell me something?

CheesyFeet · 18/09/2006 16:18

"unless dh gets me drunk"

BE

we are coming to see you next weekend for drinkipoos, perhaps the girls should have one room and the boys another

trinity2 · 18/09/2006 16:31

Mirena - But after 5 months I'm having the heavyest peroids which are sooo painful and last 10 days. Do think its the safest method and the docs reckon you have to give it at least 6 months so I'm keeping with it at least until after Christmas.

EmmaKB · 18/09/2006 16:35

I am having mirena coil fitted tomorrow. Have spoken to the nurses at the fpc and this sounds like the best solution for me at the mo. I don't want any more kids (have 3 already) but thought that sterilisation was a bit too drastic at my age.

Sophiev73 · 18/09/2006 16:40

Mirena users - do you agree with trinity's doctor's comments that you have to give it 6 months to 'settle'?

MellyMum · 18/09/2006 23:04

I had problems with pill and implanon implant BC (blood pressure and breakthrough bld), so since having dd - 2y2m -have used condoms. Quite fertile couple, yet i feel safe with them and we both find them ok to use.

harrisey · 18/09/2006 23:27

just a littel mirena tip - get your coil checked a couple of weeks after you have a smear, if youhave one while it is in.
I didn't, it slipped into my cervix and the result (dd2) is almost 3!

katlisek79 · 24/09/2006 16:35

"In addition to all those above I also am constantly slathering myself in Vitamin e oil to get rid of the cs scar and stretch marks..."

Question to Sophiev73:
How about the Vitamin E oil? Is it making any difference for your stretch marks?

claireh11 · 24/09/2006 22:20

My dp had the snip when ds1 was 18months old (now almost 4yrs). I hated him for doing it and we are now saving for the reversal op (£1700!!!)

For him that was the best contraceptive but for me, him doing that meant I don't actually really want him to come (ahem ) anywhere near me as I REALLY want another baby.
