Hiya im on my 9 th day of taking them with no side effects untill today where if i move my head to quickly i nearly faint and i swear i can feel the blood rushing round my body if i sit still, which i cant seem to do.Plus not slept for two nights hardly, keep waking feeling like i should be up doing something.

Do any of these feelings sound similar to anyone elses.

just bumping this up charlie

i'm on prozac too (for 6 weeks or so now) but haven't had any side effects at all, so no advice from me i'm afraid have you studied the patient information leaflet? it should have a comprehensive list of side effects ...

charlieplus3 · 31/03/2004 19:29

Just being laying down and got such a head rush when got up. Feel really odd, but not bad, just like my head isnt really mine. The leaflet is a bit scary, but yes dizzeness is a side effect.

Thanks for bumping it back up for me

I can't take any ssri ad's because it gives me those side effects (among others) from the v first tablet. Last time i tried, I took one pill, and was ill for a week. Hopefully as time goes on you will get used to them, but I had to stop taking them.

alibubbles · 31/03/2004 20:01

I took my first one today, had them in the cupboard for 3 weeks, but saw the consultant at the hospital on Monday and they feel that they could help my blood pressure come down, I've been a bit stressed about my forthcoming op. Ive never had high blood pressure before, even when heavily pregnant.

I am on 48 hours notice to go in for the next three weeks, failing that, then booked to go in on the 28th May for definate. They will do keyhole srgery on my kidney, but I will be in for 5 days.

My head feels a bit tight, that could be because I haven't been sleeping too well. Doc doesn't want to give me anything specific for blood pressure, says he'd rather give me valium on the admission day.

Lets keep each other posted on how we feel, what side effects we are having, support each other

tillymint · 31/03/2004 20:23

I've been on prozac since dd2 was born last July. Was on it in 2001 for a while with no side effects - except more will power to lose weight!
This time it took at least 3 weeks to feel 'right'. Nausea, headaches, light headedness, and little sleep- or was thbat my new baby?
I'm 4months pg now and still on it - feel good, when I tried to come off I went doolally.
Personally, I'd say stick with it. Drink some warm milk in bed before you settle down. Oh BTW I take mine in the morning. A recent thread was discussing the pros and cons of am or pm! But I can't find it. Good Luck

Evita · 31/03/2004 20:39

I tried taking an SSRI once but it made me SO sick and dizzy and sort of nervy. it just didn't suit me at all. I have low blood pressure anyway and I think they can make it go lower.

Stargazer · 31/03/2004 20:46

Hi Charlie

Sounds like me when I started on it. When I lay down at night I felt as though the room was moving around me (you know like when you're really drunk!!). I also felt faint from time to time. Told my GP and he said that the effects usually wore off after about 14 days - I kept going and now don't have spinning rooms, etc. I feel so much better too. However, I suggest you talk to your GP just to be sure. Hope this helps.

Kayleigh · 31/03/2004 21:36

How come people lose weight when on this and I am putting it on Can't stop eating.

MrsGrump · 31/03/2004 21:52

I always eat more when I'm more relaxed; maybe it's making you less stressed/worried about things?

charlieplus3 · 01/04/2004 08:25

Hiya feel a bit better this morn. Had to abandon MN llast night and go to bed though. Still got dizzy head but not as bad as yesterday. And as for the eating well no change really, i supose my appetite had decreased but i still eat cos i like food.

Airbubbles, thats a good idea! Im surprised how quickly the pnd got hold of me. One min i was super mum the next i hadnt been out forthree weeks and could hardly bother to talk or get dressed. Has put a huge strain on dp but hopefully things are starting to improve now. I am alot better in the mornings and can do alot more, plus going out on Fri so thats a huge step forward for me.

glad you're feeling better this morning charlie (and looking forward to meeting you TOMORROW!)

spacemonkey · 01/04/2004 08:28

shit! that'll teach me to post under assumed identities when i'm still half asleep

CookieMonster · 01/04/2004 08:43

hi Charlie, glad you're feeling a bit better this morning. As I think I said on your other thread, I had the non-sleeping side effect and my appetite all but disappeared but both of these only lasted about 2 weeks. I didn't have the dizziness though ... if it's mentioned in the leaflet I'm sure it'll be something that goes away in a few more days, but maybe, as somebody else suggested, just check it out with your gp for peace of mind. Good luck and stick with it because it will be worth it. CM xx

Hi Charlieplus - had very similar side effects when 1st taking SSRI's. Wore off after first few weeks but probably worth keeping in touch with your doctor just to monitor it. hope you are feeling better soon.

Allibubbles - good luck for the op when it comes round! Will be thinking of you.

How you feeling Airbubbles?

OP posts:
spacemonkey · 02/04/2004 10:33

charlie

I think I would ring NHS Direct for advice if this was happening to me, for a bit of medical reassurance

charlieplus3 · 02/04/2004 10:49

Really? Am fine now. Could phone Docs, but the leaflet does say these side effects are normal. Maybe ill give it till after weekend.

OP posts:
alibubbles · 02/04/2004 12:52

Thanks Kizzie.

Charlieplus3, thank you for asking. I am fine, I had a bit of shaking hands yesterday afternoon, but got through it. I have started to drink a lot more water and that seems to help as I feel a bit dehydrated and just a bit spacey at times.

I am hoping that I won't have too many side effects, though sleeping seems to be a problem, awake last night fom 12.30 till 4.00am. The doc said I should sleep better!

spacemonkey · 02/04/2004 13:09

my sleeping is worse

but i blame mumsnet for that!

CP3 · 04/04/2004 09:04

Hooray1 Around day 12 and all sickness and dizziness has passed. Touch wood1 Still waking alot at night but thats normal for me. I do feel better, loads My enthusiam for life is returning.

Stargazer · 04/04/2004 09:15

Hi Charlie j- glad you're beginning to feel better. I have to admit at one point I thought I'd stop taking it as I felt so strange. However, now that it's gone I feel great. My DS is still giving us huge problems - ADHD and then some and at home having been asked not to attend school - but now that I'm not feeling depressed, I'm able to handle all the other problems so much better. Take care. But don't forget - if you have any worries - talk to your GP. Mine's great and been very supportive.

CP3 · 04/04/2004 09:17

Blimey Stargazer, it must be so difficult for you. Are the school allowed to do that, i thought they were trained on how to deal with children with your ds condition. Bless him, thats the last thing you or him need

Kayleigh · 04/04/2004 11:22

CP3, so glad you're feeling better.
Not sure I like the name change though - makes you sound like something out of Star Wars
