remedy for itchy insect bites

Hi I've just got my After Bite out of the medicine cabinet and it says do not use after 10.2011. Oops! Just wondering if anyone knows if there is anything I can put on very itchy bites from the storecupboard or fridge that might be soothing. Thanks!

Hi, make up a paste with bicarbonate of soda and a drop of water and spread it on. That usually takes away the itch - i used bicarbonate in the bath when the DCs had chicken pox.

DD does react to insect bites a lot so i usually have antihistamines in the cupboard now but the method above is good at soothing the itch.
