So DP cut his thumb open with a knife on Monday whilst at work and he was cutting up boxes. The 'first aider' dressed it but DP bled for about 20 minutes and almost fainted however they decided not to seek medical attention. I then had a look and tbh we'd had a long day so I just went along with it'll be fine. Seemed to have been the right choice however he was come in from work this evening and it has split open again and was bleeding at work today. Basically do you think we should go to minor injuries in case it needs stitching? Its not particularly deep but the skin does not meet over it if that helps

It will be too late to be stitched but could be steri stripped which will hold the edges together. I think you can buy these from the pharmacy. Make sure the wound is properly cleaned before applying the steri strips then dress with a secure dressing.

If you can't do this then the practise nurse can do it for you or, I guess the walk in service.
