has anyone here become (or know anyone that's become ) pregnant even after taking it????

I don't think I need to explain why (do I )!!!

well I hope so!!! Although while I'm quietly cr*pping myself DH seems to have had time to think over the "what ifs" and isn't too stressed about it. Yes it would be awful timing - only just getting back on our feet after a dreadful year last year, but I guess if the MAP doesn't work.......it doesn't work! Not much we can do about it now over than keep our fingers (and legs ) crossed and wait for AF.......

My ds1 is living proof that it doesn't always. I took it 14 hrs after - no sickness or anything. Guess he was just meant to be!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 14/09/2006 18:41

I took mine about 10hrs after.............

ho hum - the next 2-3 weeks are probably going to be the longest of my life (and what's even worse is that I've always said to myself that if DH ever agreed to no.3 - highly unlikely! - that I'd prefer another autmun/winter baby ............oh well.....I suppose may/june baby would be nice enough.

Having said all that I'm quietly telling myself I'm NOT going to be pg. That I couldn't possibly get pg twice after just one time, and especially as this time I've took the Morning After Pill.............

Try not to worry - it might make you late!

iPodthereforiPoor · 15/09/2006 12:07

Don't panic if you are late. MAP cocked up my very regular cycle for a couple of months and I don't think Its ever really gone back to how it was. But that was ~6 years later and pre DS.

bendi · 15/09/2006 13:18

QoQ - I was in just the same situation last week, iPod advised me I think. Took the MAP, had a grotty PMT kind of week & I too am keeping everything crossed, wish I had done the same last Thursday.. Shall we see? If all else fails we can start our own 'MAP bugger all good' a/n group. And new bub would have same birthday as DS, aaargh.....

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2006 13:29

of course the headlines today about MAP not being as effective as health experts 'say' it is doesn't really add to ones confidence in it!!!

OP posts:
bendi · 15/09/2006 13:33

I heard that half asleep in bed this morning & convinced myself it was an anxiety dream. So really heard it then did I? Just got my periods back last month due to BF, so god knows what my cycle is, going to have to wee on a stick soon I think. Isn't there a test that tells within 5 mins of your last fumble if you're in the club??? If only there was a terrified, palpitating, tunnel vision emoticon..

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2006 13:39

lol bendi - I think there is one you can use before your period is due.....not sure what it's called though......found myself looking at the pg tests in Morrisons today and thinking "should I buy one as soon as it could work rather than waiting a possible 3 weeks for AF to arrive!"........opted against it today - but I may leave it until next weekend..........It'll be about 4/5 days before AF would have been due by then!!!!

OP posts:
bendi · 15/09/2006 14:35

AF due next Thurs, but DS & I are going away on Tues for our first trip 'alone together' IYSWIM, and I don't want to spoil that specialness(soppyarse). So, I'm doing nowt till 2 Oct - I'll let you know & good good good luck, QoQ. How old are your others? I just have DS, 16mo & I've given all his baby clothes away, bugger

Piffle · 15/09/2006 14:36

taken it twice = no pregnancy took it within 24 hours though made me feel vomitous.
News just said it goes down to 60% effective after 24 hrs, and even less after 48 hrs

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2006 15:46

bendi - got two DS's 6 (tomorrow) and 2 (3 in November). I due a week on Tuesday (of course brilliant timing that I have unprotected sex exactly half way through my cycle.........just like when DS2 was concieved.........

Didn't take the MAP after pg scare with DS2......as it wasn't such a huge deal. This time was different.

You'd have thought we'd learned by now wouldn't you - DS1 was concieved in the first month of trying, DS2 was concieved in one go without trying.......

OP posts:
bendi · 15/09/2006 16:00

Happy Birthday to DS1, fingers crossed he doesn't get a parcel in June... Also exactly half way thru' the cycle, I did A level Biology ya'know.... Feeling a bit scared & sweaty now, do you notice that there are a few other 'oops, randy old me' threads on here at the moment?? We might have the beginnings of a club....

Only got the DS, and don't think I've ever been fertile before feeling that egg pinging free - here's to my ovaries being like walnuts...

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2006 16:05

thanks bendi - hopefully he won't.....I didn't do A level biology (didn't even do GSCE LOL) but I know.....I seem to have got past the scared and sweaty stage.......although could all come flooing back if AF doesn't arrive in the next 3 weeks LOL.

I keep telling myself the fact that I smoke would reduce my chances of concieving.......but I smoked more when I fell pg with both DS's, and was even overweight when DS2 "appeared"!!!

OP posts:
bendi · 15/09/2006 16:10

Hm, let me remember
Smokes like a factory chimney? check
likes a dpor or two? check
BMI like a hippo? check
geriatric(38)? check
pregnant? check

Thank goodness, teeHee,xxxx

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2006 16:12

lol - I've just read your MAP thread.......glad to see I wasn't the only one who succumbed after a bottle of wine

OP posts:
bendi · 15/09/2006 16:19

Right QoQ, going now. Away for a couple of weeks with DS, back on here early next month. Can we see how we've done then....? Dare we?
Dare we not?? Enjoy the birthday. BTW, the wine wasn't even vintage (like I could tell)

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2006 16:24
