sore breast

am a little worried as my right breast is sore in one area and there is a thickened area at the sore spot....not exactly a lump but definately thick. This soreness comes and goes over past two months but thickened area stays....quite sore at the moment.....could this be a sign of cancer or is it just hormonal?? Dont want to panic!

Not sure what that could be so I wouold suggest getting it checked by a gp just to put your mind at rest, not much help I know but this will also bump it so someone else might see it and have better advice!

Tod ,I had a sore breast and a slight itchy rash on my breast last january.I was sent for a mammogram then an ultrasound as it can be a sign of a particular type of breast cancer.I'm not sure about thickened skin though.They did say that pain in the breast is usually nothing serious.It was really scary as the waiting was horrendous.Luckily they found nothing.I would really recommend you see your gp this week.It is probably nothing but should be seen to rule out anything nasty.I hope I haven't scared you

Thanks for advice. Went to gp today. she was very reassuring...thinks it might be a cyst..having ultrasound tomorrow just to see....am a little nervous but not as anxious as before...fingers crossed that it is just a cyst!

Good that it's being done tomorrow TOD,and I'm sure your gp is right ,good luck tomorrow.Are you taking someone with you for moral support?

Thanks. Had ultrasound done and thankfully all is well....not even a cyst.Probably just the aging process. Didnt even think to bring anyone with me, didnt tell anyone as i didnt want to worry them, have been sick this year already and feel i have caused enough stress for everyone! Feel like celebrating!!!!
