ants can sting. went on a nice walk today and then all of a sudden a load of red/brown coloured flying ants appeared and one stung my bloody lip!

it hurt actually.

red ants are known for nipping - if you're concerned about a reaction, take an anti-hist but I don't think you can be seriously ill from them

oh good. can't have time for being ill!
might have bit me but it felt like it was stinging like mad. it went in my mouth and i pulled it out uuuuuuuuuuurgh

They do bite. I think wood ants are the most vicious.

yes they bite - my mum got bitten by one last year and ended up at the doctors on a hefty course of antibiotics. She got bitten on the leg, and because of the circulatory system etc the chemist told her she had to go to the doctor and tell him she must be seen that day.
