A friend has asked me to help him get fit / eat healthily. Though I'm a chef who knows plenty about nutrition, it's all sort of second nature by now. He's leaving London soon, and in the place of my (no doubt) inspirational advice (ha ha ) would like to take away a good basic nutrition book. Maybe with some recipe ideas, maybe with a fitness element? Anyone got any ideas?

How about Jane Clarke's 'Body Foods for Life'? I find it very practical and accessible, packed with info on nutrition, health and lifestyle, and 100 recipes (there are more in her 'Body Foods for Women'

I'd second that, I've been after that book for a while but am banned from buying any more cookery books! Anyone else mourning her departure from the Guardian on Saturdays? Dr John Biffa doesn't do it for me!
