Sorry if graphic
Been ill for months but not panicked until today.
Back and forth to doctors since march-with weight loss, stomach pains, feeling faint/dizzy various tests and now waiting for a stomach scan( finally).
Today I've been bleeding passing stools and not stopped. Lots of blood from bum it's not a cut from passing stool it's like a period from wrong place- back to dr again they basically are going to do another fuckibg blood test and told me to wait for scan from hosp which could be weeks- I'm worried even if they're not this isn't right is it :(

Thanks it was an egg cup full at least but not a mug full. My sis is coming to take me to hosp so I can either go a and e or the walk in centre next door now I'm thinking just going to a and e at this point- can you get in trouble if they think it's not urgent

No you wont get in trouble. Dh went to a &e once after losing a lot of blood when he went to the toilet. It had stopped but they still took it seriously. He had internal piles that they banded for him.
Good luck.

I agree with pp that it sounds like UC or crohn's.

If you are losing big volumes then A&E. Did your gp do a full blood count/haemoglobin?

wfrances · 01/07/2014 12:27

our gps send anything urgent to a consultant led acute medical unit in our hospital open from 9-9
blood tests ,scans, tests are done there and then.
i agree if you dont have this service you need to be checked so a&e.

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/07/2014 16:03

Thanks again all a and e sent me to another dept to speak to a dr the upshot is I now have a scan Tomo afternoon and then I have to have a procedure where they put camera up back passage depending on the scan.

Good luck wishful

I have had exactly the same situation. I went to the urgent care centre well, dragged there by dh and have just had several investigations (endoscopy and colonoscopy and mri scan). Waiting for the consultant to confirm the results but it looks 99% to be either crohn's or Colitis.

I was secretly terrified, I was sure I had cancer. I'm glad they are seeing you straight away - even being rushed through, my tests have taken a few months to come through. It is scary but best to get it sorted.

allisgood1 · 01/07/2014 17:45

Good luck! Sounds like they took if really seriously.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 01/07/2014 23:08

Good stuff. Ask for pre med before camera. I didn't get one when i had camera up. Apparently it's usual to have one?

Wishfulmakeupping · 02/07/2014 13:46

Thanks again all. sleepybum I hope you are doing ok did they say how long you may have to wait.
I had scan it was a pelvic scan and it was all clear. I have to go in for a Colonoscopy not sure how long until that app they said it will come through the post. Hoping the pain is better soon have to go back to work Tomo and this flare up is lasting a while.

Glad to hear you've got it sorted.

FreakinScary, it's not usual to have sedative with a sigmoidoscopy (partial look at colon) but it should usually be given with a full colonoscopy - although some patients choose not to.

Fairylea · 02/07/2014 19:04

Good luck with your colonoscopy. I hope you can find out what's going on and get some treatment.

I've had an endoscopy (down throat) and colonoscopy. Both on same day at same time - lucky me :) it was okay, they gave me a sedative beforehand. I didn't remember much of the actual procedure, just coming round in the bed afterwards.

Thinking of you x

spanky2 · 02/07/2014 19:08

Make sure they look all the way up, some procedures only look half way. Good luck.

PitchSlapped · 02/07/2014 19:11

Good luck op ... colonoscopies are nothing to worry about I hope you get an appointment soon

SleepyBum · 03/07/2014 11:54

Hi wishful , this whole diagnosis process has taken a while, probably 2-3 months from the doctor at the Urgent Care centre til now (and that is being pushed up the waiting list). But where I live takes an age to get seen for anything on the NHS, other areas are much better, I believe.

It was probably about 4 weeks until the colonoscopy/endoscopy appointment and another 5 weeks after that for the MRI (which was a fortnight ago). And I have to see the consultant to go through my results on the 21st July. It is incredibly frustrating, but hopefully it will be a bit quicker for you.

I hope this flare doesn't go on too long for you, try to go easy on yourself Thanks Did the doctors at the hospital say what they suspect it may be?
