Does this sound like chest infection? Any point going to see GP?

I've had this persistent cough for just over four weeks. I think it's getting better, as in I'm not woken in the night so much, but is showing no other signs of going. Also, stopping after walking any long-ish distance (a couple of miles, for example) I explode into paroxysms of coughing.

Have also got this pain under my ribs on right side the last couple of days. I think this may have been caused by the sustained coughing over long period. It only really hurts when I cough or change position when laying down in bed. It's not excruciating pain you'd imagine something like pleurisy to be.

I'm just wondering whether it's worth bothering the GP for. If it's viral they'll just send me on my way. I'm really not sure.

Yes, I'd go and get checked out after 4 weeks. It's probably just lingering but still worth getting seen.

I would go, 4 weeks is a long time. My mum pulled the muscles between her ribs coughing and needed strong anti inflammatories.
I get pleurisy and have only been in real agony once (for a few hours) with it, so it could still be it.
