Hard round lump under my ear - what could it be?

Exactly that really.

It's about the size of a small marble, and is quite deep under the skin (although you can see that there's a bulge there, IYSWIM). It's very close to the hinge on my jaw, and I only have it on my left side.

I first noticed it yesterday, but I think it's a little bigger than it was.

Should I make an appointment with the GP for next week?

Could be an enlarged lymph node. I get this sometimes when I have a cold or throat infection. See your gp if worried.

Have you been sick at all? Could just be a bit of lingering infection. GP will check it out.

Not ill, but I do have 3 enormous insect bites. Could that be it?

I'll keep an eye over the weekend.

Thank you.

Hi. I had exactly this a few months ago. Went to GP who thought it was just an enlarged lymph gland but sent me for an ultrasound to be sure. It turned out to be a tumour on my saliva gland. Thankfully it was benign (80% of them are) but still had to have it removed as apparently they eventually turn nasty. Best to get it checked out with your GP.
