i had a smear a few weeks back which came back clear - but i do bleed after sex and the nurse said as soon as she touched my cervix with the swab i began to bleed.

lately i have had a horrible pain in my groin, to the right where i imagine my ovary would be....its low down but to the right. its been really really painful all day, not a constant pain but a twinging pain, dull but severe.

im resisting googling.

any ideas? i KNOW i need to see my gp. im just worrying slightly. i need to get an appt that convenient and that may take a few weeks.

My guess would be ovarian cyst plus unrelated cervical erosion.

But I would get seen sooner than in a few weeks just to be on safe side.

idontlikealdi · 19/06/2014 20:25

Your ovary isn't in your groin.

ThatVikRinA22 · 19/06/2014 21:03

cheers for that gem of useless information idontlikealdi very helpful for anyone who doesnt know where their ovaries are.

no cervical erosion seen by nurse.

Ah ok. I hope you get some answers. Could be polyps in womb or anything.

I'd see GP and ask for gynae referral and ultrasound.

idontlikealdi · 19/06/2014 21:17

But it's not, is it, so not unhelpful if you have an issue in your groin that also needs investigating.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2014 21:19

It is really

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2014 21:20

Ovarian pain is felt in groin.

Cant believe the things you have to argue about in here.

mousmous · 19/06/2014 21:22

idont yes they are. the uterus/ovaries are tiny if not pregnant.

PolkaSpottyDotty · 19/06/2014 21:29

Pain can refer into the groin.

FWIW when my ectopic pregnancy ruptured, I had no abdo pain at all. But my right leg was agony...

I agree with Fanjo's first post.

idontlikealdi · 19/06/2014 21:32

Can refer to to the groin, yes, bit op said 'in her groin, where she imagines her ovaries to be'.

Ovaries are not in the groin, no matter how small or big, they are in the abdomen.

ThatVikRinA22 · 19/06/2014 22:09

thanks for the biology lesson.

i have googled, its definitely pain where my ovary would be situated - i call that my groin....i mean just above the crease where my leg joins my abdomen.....i will now refer to it as my lower abdomen in future and i stand corrected.

so now i have the biology correct can the pedants bugger off because im sat her worrying i have something nasty....i feel quite anxious.

the pain has been there all day today. if i twist in bed its agony. i know i need to see my gp. i will make an appt now as off work for a bit.

Sounds very cyst like. Or like a twisted fibroid.

Hope you get some answers.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/06/2014 22:12

I'd say more likely to be something non dangerous but glad you are to get checked.

mousmous · 19/06/2014 22:42

my fibroids sometimes give of an 'inflamed' feeling (iyswim) just behind the pelvic bone. when it was really bad (as in curling up with a hot water bottle after taking lots of painkillers) it was investigated.
hope you get an appointment soon and it turns out to not be sinister.

Cocolepew · 19/06/2014 22:45

If you have constant pain and you are in agony you should go to A&E. If you gave a cyst it could burst.

ThatVikRinA22 · 19/06/2014 23:09

its only agony if i twist....say i sneeze and im laid down - then it really hurts for a bit.
its a sort of twanging pain the rest of the time - not constant - but i get twinges every 30 seconds or so. ive prodded and poked and there isnt a tender spot - the pain seems very deep inside my body and i cant "reach" it....its weird.

anyway, i will see my gp asap. i need to get checked out. im a bugger for putting stuff off.

Hey Vicar, sorry you're feeling so bad. Have you ever been diagnosed with endometriosis? It can cause pains in all sorts of strange places (mine was in my right kidney)! Another possibility is adhesions. I have some and even now if I sneeze it's very painful. You really need to get checked out.
Hope you get it sorted - and sorry if what I've said isn't helpful! Smile

ThatVikRinA22 · 20/06/2014 01:04

thank you mines....i will keep an open mind. my snarky comments were directed at the pendants on the thread not at anyone actually being helpful btw....
i appreciate that i just need to see my gp and get to the bottom of it.

Appendix? This hurts in the right groin. Have you got a temperature?

Cocolepew · 20/06/2014 08:01

I had endo and ovarian cysts and the pain sounds very similar, especially the pain when twisting or sneezing .
Hope you get seen soon.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 21/06/2014 00:03

How are you op?
