Verruca on sole of foot - treatment?

Hi

I have noticed a small hole on the underneath if my heel recently, and when I looked closely, I saw some small black spots. Dr Google suggests this is a verruca. Most home treatment seems to involve using either salicylic acid or cryotherapy to remove the hard skin and eventually remove the verruca. My problem with this us that there seems to be a real hole in my foot where the verruca is: I'd need to kill off an awful lot of skin layers before getting close to the actual verruca. My OH had a very bad experience with corn plasters containing salicylic acid so I am very wary of using them.

Any advice from experienced verruca treaters out there?

TIA

Duct tape. We've tried all the creams and gels, had moderate success with some Scholl foam corn plaster type rings impregnated with cream, but by far the easiest, most effective and cheapest is covering it with a piece of duck tape for a few weeks.

DD had one we taped the inside of a banana skin to it.It went black and went.
It was a tip I read on here.

There was another verruca thread on here earlier - duct tape all the way for me!
